What You Should Know Before Buying a Digital Camcorder
The technology of making camcorders has developed greatly for the last couple of years, making these devices extremely compact and attractive to the customers. However, in the beginning most people could not afford to buy this unit, because the first models of camcorders had a little bit too expensive storage media and they were extremely heavy.
Today, these exceptional devices appear in wide range of options for the storage media you would like to use. Besides, the software that drives the digital camcorders has made them so easy to handle that almost any individual can point, click and record any content he wants. Still, as there are many different types of digital camcorders it makes the things really tough when it comes to purchasing a particular model.
The innovative digital camcorders are constantly competing with LCD television units, new High Definition plasma offering high HD digital recording. It’s one of those shiny gems that tempt people into a false sense of security! It means that unless you have a computer that is fast enough to edit the video and create a movie, you’ve just exposed yourself to your next challenge.
I remember when I have bought my new HD digital camcorder. It was the time when I encountered a new challenge in creating a dvd that would play the content, 4 hours of recorded content, 24 hours of rendering to create and burn the master dvd to see the results. Well, at that time my digital camcorder was about 6-7 years old but I thought I just had to plug the camera in and work with the video real time. The video became a slide show in the editors, no matter which one I used. I did some additional research and discovered the PC had to decompress the HD content to work with it. One of the possible alternatives is to use one of the “smaller” recording formats, for Standard Definition (SD). The digital camcorder I bought has 3SD settings, and 2 HD settings.
The only other challenge I have discovered is when it comes to making a video of anything in the early evening or during night. You will get a completely bad image with grainy effects, unless the area you are recording is well lit.
I have made a decision to improve my PC hardware, and today I can edit the highest HD content. It implies that instead of taking 24 hours to render about 4 hours of content, it now takes 40-45min on average.
Before you make a choice of a digital camcorder, check all its features to make sure they fit your budget and needs. However, you will definitely be satisfied with some basic models, unless you want to take this job more professionally. The further thing you may like to consider will be digital camcorder batteries that need more time between recharges.
